What's the difference between Duplication and Replication?
- Duplication is the process of burning the data onto a recordable disc using recordable drives.
-
Replication (referred to as 'molded, pressed or stamped') is a multi step process that involves:
- Creation of a glass master from a CD/DVD master
- Creation of nickel stamper(s) from a glass master
- Injection molding of clear optical-grade polycarbonate substrates (clear discs) from that stamper
- Metallizing and lacquering of those substrates to produce CDs and DVDs.
